APERTURE Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander County ‘Del Rio Vineyard’ 2019

Another scintillating and explosive Cabernet from the wizardry of winemaker Jesse Katz, this one from the 2019 Del Rio Vineyard. It’s aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak and displays a deep shimmering purple and garnet core with a fluorescent purple rim in the glass. Boisterous notes of candied black currants, blackberry liquor, blue plum skins, fresh eucalyptus, potpourri, and cedary herbs. Coffee and chocolate notes are present on the palate, alongside spiced black fruits. Impeccably balanced, it glides over the tongue and won’t let go. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a few bottles and see how it changes over the next 10-20 years. Approximately 450 cases produced of this spectacular wine. Highly recommended and Editor’s Choice.
