The single vineyard 2020 Del Rio Vineyard Cabernet from Aperture spends 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels, it gifts a splendid dark purple and ruby core that dances below the fluorescent light purple rim. Stunning aromas and flavors of blackberry compote, cassis, fresh violets, cracked white peppercorn, powdered graphite, mocha powder, cedary herbs, and freshly grated baking chocolate create a rich and scintillating finish. I get this spiced chocolate-covered cherry note on the front palate, but not overpowering - it’s very restrained in its approach. A small production of about 120 cases produced. Highly recommended.
