It has been just over a dacade since I last tasted the 2005 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and it is still absolutely stunning. Showing some beautiful aged characteristics, this begins with irresistible aromas of plum and dark dried cherries followed by sweet tobacco, cured meat, toast, bell pepper and hints of charcoal. Palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with silky tannins that are beautifully integrated. Displaying incredible balance and finesse, this is drinking beautifully today and is an utterly fascinating wine from one of the regions most legendary producers. Under the right storage conditions this could have over another decade in the tank.

The 2005 Philip Togni Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely gorgeous wine with beautiful aromas of dark fruits, bell pepper, mineral, spice, floral and hints of roasted coffee beans. The structure here is impeccable, everything is tightly wound straight through the long grippy finish. This is definitely a classy Cabernet that can provide instant gratification but will also thrive in the cellar for decades.
