The 2014 Quintessa is an absolute masterpiece in this vintage. This proprietary blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Carmenére from vineyards blocks in Dragon’s Terrace, Bench, Cruz del Sur, Riviera Sur, Mont Calisse, Las Casas, Limelight, Corona Sur, Corona Norte, Corral, Alcantara, Lake Terrace. This spent 21 months in French Oak (80% new) and instantly begins to dazzle as soon as the cork is pulled. Gorgeous aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries are woven together with violets, graphite, loam, cinnamon and a lovely underlying savory herbal quality all bursting from the glass. Full and voluptuous, this red displays remarkable overall balance, depth and concentration, as layers of ripe dark fruits, graphite, mocha and sweet spices all build on the palate. It continues to display excellent poise through the long, plush finish. Accessible now, and also has the potential to cellar for many years. One of the finest wines ever from Quintessa.
