GRAMERCY CELLARS Syrah, Walla Walla Valley ‘John Lewis’ 2018

The 2018 John Lewis Syrah is so incredibly delicious. I actually had to drink the rest of the bottle with an meaty prime ribeye steak this evening, because I couldn’t get enough of it. Aromas of blackberry compote, wild blueberry, smokey brisket, hoisin sauce, dried lavender, green Sicilian olive brine, dark chocolate shavings and cracked black pepper spill from the glass. Tannins are medium plus, acidity is high and the balance is perfect. Give this 5 years in the cellar and you will be richly rewarded, or enjoy it over the next 15 years. The quality of the newest releases of Gramercy wines is a testament to winemakers Ben and Greg and how they are improving their wines year after year while increasing the caliber of their wines. One of the best bottles I’ve had from Gramercy that I can remember. Highly recommended.
