Louis Skinner is turning into one of my favorite winemakers in Washington state. I love the way his style of winemaking crosses through every single wine he touches. In most vintages, his wines need a few years in bottle to really come alive - they are tight and a bit lean in their youth. But give them a few years and they turn into something magical. Focused on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, and 10% Merlot this wine delivers in spades. The Pere de Famille brings blackberry, cassis, white pepper, tangerine zest, violets, and cedary herb notes to the glass. The acidity is perfectly in line with the high tannins and elegant finish. Wonderfully balanced, this full-bodied effort has the stuff to age for years to come. Highly recommended.
