Coming in at 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot that is aged for 22 months in 38% new French oak barrels it starts with aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, pencil shavings, country dusty road, and vanilla bean. Acidity and tannins are in the high-level range but meld wonderfully with the red and black fruit-focused palate. Secondary characteristics of baking chocolate, cedary herbs, and toasted baking spice complete the palate. Wonderful length and a savory note on the back palate complete the wine. Give this another year or two in the bottle before opening and then enjoy over the next decade or more. 1950 cases produced.
