The 2020 Doyenne is comprised of 60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from some of the greatest vineyards in Washington State, and it’s aged for 20 months in approximately 40% new French oak barrels. With a glimmering neon ruby core and a silvery rim in the glass, this stunning wine expresses notes of boysenberry, black currant, black olive tapenade, ground peppercorn, powdered graphite, new leather, and vanilla tobacco leaf. Still incredibly young, this will need a few years to settle down to get rid of the sharp edges, but when it does, it’s going to be a beautifully structured and tasty wine. Better in 2024.
