ANDREW JANUIK Cabernet 'Stone Cairn' 2013

Andrew Januik has crafted another impressive Cabernet with this new release 'Stone Cairn.' This Cabernet was largely sourced from the Quintessence vineyard, which was planted by partners Dick Shaw and Paul Kaltinick on Red Mountain in 2010. This wine starts with aromas of mocha, blackberry, graphite and cedar. There are flavors of blackberry pie, cedar, mocha, blueberry compote and Turkish coffee. Masculine and layered, this is a gorgeous wine straight out of the bottle right now. There is a plush mouthfeel and a lovely texture that sits alongside some light tannins. This bottling exceeds the highly impressive 2012 'Stone Cairn' and represents a pretty solid value in Washington Cabernet. (Best 2016-2029) - April, 2016 (OB)
