MAISON BLEUE Grenache 'Bourgeois Monette's Vineyard' 2014

This stunning wine comes from the famed ‘Monette’s Vineyard’ in the Walla Walla Rocks region. Wines from this vineyard tend to show a less openly stony characteristic, as the wet stone aspect in this wine is subtle, rather than intense. The wine opens with bright aromatics of wet rock, red cherry, rose petals and strawberry candy. This leads to deep flavors reminiscent of bacon fat, red cherry, red raspberry and wet gravel. This is feminine and has a gorgeous texture and mouthfeel. You have to admire the gorgeous aromatic and flavor range that winemaker Dr. Jon Meuret has crafted. This is one of the most outstanding wines from Maison Bleue that I have tasted. (Best 2017-2026) - June, 2017 (OB)
