SAVIAH CELLARS Grenache, Walla Walla Valley ‘G.S.M.’ 2021

The 2021 Saviah GSM has a composition of 64% Grenache, 24% Syrah and 12% Mourvèdre, is garnet in color, and shows a nose of strawberry and violets. Light to medium bodied, with a tight tannic structure, it opens with tart cranberry, orange rind, red raspberry, anise, and faint white pepper. Early on the Syrah and Mourvèdre stay in the background and let the Grenache carry the day. With extended time in the glass, black raspberry, blackberry and slight raw fennel emerge, revealing more intensity and depth. It possesses a 45 second finish and should be cellared for a few years to reach its potential. This is a well-crafted wine that should have 10+ years of prime drinking ahead of it.
