A standout in the lineup is the 2021 Saviah Cellars Hunt and Gather Red Blend. Hailing from the Funk Estate Vineyard, it is medium purple in color and carries a nose of blackberry and Asian spices. Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah, it has a settled, velvety and mouthcoating entry, with an explosion of flavors coming out of the gate. Blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, pinecone, sweet tobacco, and slight pepper are all present and well-integrated. This wine continues to build as it moves mid-palate to finish, with the tobacco playing a more prominent role late in the game. This is a classy and decadent wine, with great balance throughout. It is approachable now and should have 15+ years of enjoyment left in the tank. I highly recommend this wine.
