Head winemaker Ryan Crane has crafted an excellent Syrah here. Despite the heat of the vintage, this wine has a Northern Rhone feel with its aromatics, flavor profiles and lower alcohol (13.6%). This wine underwent 100% whole cluster fermentation and was aged in neutral oak. The Syrah begins with dense aromas of boysenberry preserves, tar and sagebrush. This leads to flavors of black tea, blackberry and mocha with creosote. Wonderful minerality and depth to this wine that has great cellaring potential. (Best 2016-2026) - March, 2016 (OB)
