My favorite of the 2020 Pinot Noirs from Paul Lato is crafted from a three-barrel blend coming from three “Grand Cru” vineyards of Santa Barbara County. Light to medium brickish ruby colored in the glass, with an orange rim, this sublime wine boasts heavenly aromas and flavors of bright red raspberry, wild forest thimbleberry, blood orange flesh, pencil shavings, sassafrass, and dried cedary herbs. Tannins are a bit grippy but do not overpower the delicate balance of elevated acidity, sensual red and blue fruit flavors, and a lovely herbaceous finish. Only 100 cases produced. Highly recommended.
