The 2008 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir ‘Peters Vineyard’ comes from the hills of the Sonoma Coast west of Sebastopol, which is kept cool by the coast’s summer marine fog. This excellent Pinot opens up with intoxicating aromas of spice, spice, and more spice followed by cloves, a hint of cola and bright red fruits such as cranberry and rhubarb. This brings a battle between sweet and sour flavors with the sweet eventually prevailing, leading to flavors of bright red raspberries, smoke and more spice. As it evolved, the red fruits began to get darker and gain complexity, showing great balance with just enough acidity, taking on more Burgundian characteristics. It had a gorgeous soft, silky finish with just a touch of oak and there is no need to wait much longer, as it is showing very well right now. (Best 2013-2018) - November, 2013 (JR)
