WALT Pinot Noir ‘Gap’s Crown’ 2011

The Gap’s Crown’ Vineyard is situated on a hillside in the direct path of the Petaluma Gap, it is characterized by coastal fog and the cool, steady winds from the Pacific Ocean. This 2011 ‘Gap’s Crown’ Pinot Noir comes from Dijon 667 and 115 clones, and offering the most depth and concentration of all the ‘11s from Walt. The aromas are ripe and expressive with dark berries and blue fruits along with mushroom, spices and dried floral. Secondary aromas and flavors of citrus zest and chocolate begin to emerge after extended air contact. The fruit is so ripe with sleek, velvety tannins that are completely round with no hard edges. This demonstrates wonderful balance and finesse all the way through the silky finish where blue fruits, spices and floral carry on and on. (Best 2014-2021) - January, 2014 (JD)
