POE Pinot Noir, Manchester Ridge Vineyard 2014

The 2014 Manchester Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir is an absolutely gorgeous wine from Samantha Sheehan. Located in the Anderson Valley, Manchester Ridge is situated at a 2,000 foot elevation, 400 feet above the fog line. The wine itself was fermented with 20% whole cluster and native yeast, and was aged in 30% new French oak barrels, and 70% neutral French oak barrels and offers pretty aromas of red fruits, floral and smoke with underlying hints of topsoil and savory notes all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this impresses with its ultra-silky and beautifully round texture, which is remarkably balanced with wonderful finesse. This has wonderful core of sweet ripe red fruit and spices which expand seamlessly onto the pretty finish. While this is flat-out delicious right now, I expect it to continue to evolve over the next decade. (Best 2017-2028) - February, 2017 (JD)
