The 2012 Spottswoode ‘Lyndenhurst’ Cabernet Sauvignon is simply fantastic. This gorgeous Cabernet contains a dash of Malbec and Cabernet Franc (2%) which was sourced predominantly from Spottswoode Estate Vineyard in St. Helena with 19% from Oakville Ranch, Knightsbridge, and Young Inglewood Vineyards. This wine itself is remarkably balanced and velvety delivering precise aromas and flavors of dark cherries and sweet currants layered with violets, leather and sweet pipe tobacco which all come together beautifully. It continues to impress with wonderful finesse and striking seamless texture leading up to the round, supple finish. Overall, the Lyndenhurst Cabernet is a completely compelling wine which is already showing a ton of appeal. (Best 2017-2030) - February, 2016 (JD)
