The 2013 Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon begins with seductive aromas and flavors reminiscent of ripe blackberries, dark cherries and crème de cassis woven together with coffee grounds, loam and spices with underlying notes of toasted coconut. On the palate this is full-bodied and opulent with tremendous depth and concentration. It remains balanced while displaying a wonderful level of power and intensity at its core. The finish expands with layers of ripe dark fruits and sweet spices, which continue to linger on and on. Overall, this is a fantastic showing from Cakebread Cellars and I expect this to continue to evolve and drink well for many years to come. (Best 2017-2030) - August, 2016 (JD)
