The 2013 is the first Cabernet produced by Andy Erickson and his team, and it is a total beauty. Aged 32 months in neutral oak, followed by 20 months in large format foudres and an additional 12 months in barrique, this sensational Cabernet opens to seductive aromatics of beautifully ripened black cherries and black currants woven together with graphite, spring florals, exotic spices and anise, which are underlined by a touch of dusty nuances making this absolutely irresistible. This is nothing short of impressive on the palate, as it displays remarkable depth and concentration, with wonderful elegance. The overall balance and finesse is simply brilliant, as gorgeous ripe fruits continue to build through the long, polished finish. While this is flat-out stunning today, this will without doubt have a long, bright future ahead. Overall, this is a truly sensational showing that represents Napa Valley Cabernet at its finest.
