This mélange of 92% Syrah and 8% Viognier are co-fermented and aged in 20% new French oak barrels for 17 months. Displaying a lovely dark purple core with a neon pink rim in the glass, it starts off with notes of fresh violet flowers, boysenberry, black cherry fruit leather, ground black pepper, pencil eraser, and barbecued pork ribs. Acidity is in check for a Syrah from the area, and the tannins are crunchy but starting to integrate. The palate is a bit tight, which means the Voyageur will be better in 2023 and then will age wonderfully for another 8 years or more. Just 275 cases were made.
