I adored the 2021 The Contender Syrah from the Reynvaan family. This one is a bit richer and meatier than its siblings. A medium to dark purple core with a neon purple rim in the glass, it sports excellent aromas of blue plums, boysenberries, mocha powder, crushed peppercorn, and some smoked meat. I loved the olive brine note you get on the back palate, while it finishes strong with gobs of saline minerality. Highly recommended.
