L’ECOLE NO. 41 Red Blend, Walla Walla Valley 'Perigee Seven Hills Vineyard Estate’ 2020

With a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2020 L’Ecole Perigee is a very good red blend and is deep purple in color. Spending 22 months in 40% new French oak, it showed aromas of slight plum and oak on the nose. The entry was mouthcoating, with a decent amount of grip still present. Plum, blackberry, blueberry, cocoa and cigar wrapper were all present early on. It opened with some air and time and the fruit components grew in stature, taking over the driver’s seat for the rest of the trip. It possessed a wonderful one-minute finish. Give this bottle a year or two of cellaring and then enjoy for 15 additional years.
