Sourced from the Wallula Vineyard overlooking the Columbia River, vines for this wine are set on basalt and seem to provide a very earthy, mineral influence even in this warm vintage. This beautiful backdrop produces some beautiful Mourvedre. This alluring red blend is comprised of 75% Mourvèdre with 15% Syrah and the rest Grenache. The Grenache elements to this wine are minor at best, as this wine has a massive, masculine presence. The wine has a smoky nose with smoked meat, bacon fat, tar, black olive, cherry syrup and violets. There are deep flavors of anise, violets, crème de cassis, black cherry, smoke, black olive tapenade, and leather. The rich mouthfeel and smooth mid-palate brings you back the the glass. Complex and intoxicating, this wine is intense, as it showcases this Rhône blend in a unique way. The weight and structure of this wine suggests this will have an exceedingly long life in the cellar.
