The 2014 'Impulsivo' Tempranillo was aged in 50% new French puncheons for 8 months prior to bottling. The result is a stunning wine which opens to inviting aromatics of ripe dark fruits, smoke, iodine, spicebox, anise, sagebrush and black olive tapenade all coming together and soaring from the glass. Seductive and intense, the palate is plush, mineral driven and moderately tannic, framed by flavors of black cherries, umami, black tea and boysenberry cobbler. The finish is exceedingly long and chewy leaving behind a lasting impression. This is already quite appealing and should continue to evolve beautifully over the course of the next decade.
