A wonderful combination of tart fruit and rustic forrest floor notes combine with tea leaf, currants, tobacco, cherries are softened with pretty floral and a bit of vanilla on the nose. Red clay earthiness, spicy black pepper, and cinnamon stick flavors are lifted by a vibrant acidity matched by tannin with a fruit skin texture. The balanced acid and tannin plus lighter body make this a great food wine, and the pleasant slight orange oil bitterness on the finish adds plenty of interest.
