Ponzi knocked it out of the park once again with its 2021 Paloma Pinot Noir, which was fermented with 50% whole cluster fruit and aged for 11 months in 38% new French oak barrels. A glorious medium ruby core with a light pink rim, it starts off with tantalizing aromas of dark crushed cherries, espresso beans, dried blueberries, savory pepper, and just a hint of wet earth. A mouthfeel that is encompassing and expansive with a stunning layered structure, fine-grained tannins, perfect acidity, and a lush dark-fruit and spice-forward finish. 150 cases made. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
