I loved the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon by Trothe that showcased a brilliant deep purple-blue core with a lighter purple rim that is followed by a scintillating nose of candied boysenberries, crushed black plums, cassis, candied violets, sweet tobacco, and pencil shaving nuances. Full-bodied and concentrated, it’s as velvety and refined as they come with smooth tannins, exquisite purity of fruit, no hard edges, and a succulent long finish. This one is going to evolve wonderfully over the next 15-20 years with proper cellaring. Just 200 cases made. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
