DOMAINE SERENE Red Wine, Oregon 'Grand Cheval' 2012

2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #69

This is a blend of Syrah from the Seven Hills Vineyard in Walla Walla and Pinot from Jerusalem Hill and Two Barns vineyards. Both vintages were excellent in both Walla Walla and Willamette -- and the quality of fruit shows. The wine checks in at 14.3% alcohol and was aged in oak for 17 months prior to bottling. It opens with aromas of smoke, black cherry and mocha. The flavors are open and delicious with a great blend of red and black fruits like black cherry, stewed strawberry, boysenberry alongside blueberry and pomegranate. This is novel and delicious right out of the bottle. (Best 2015-2025) - September, 2015 (OB)
