DOMAINE SERENE Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 'Evenstad Reserve' 2013

Another outstanding release from this estate is their 2013 ‘Evenstad Reserve’ Pinot Noir. They have elected to have age this wine longer than most other estates, and the result is a wine which displays intense aromas of red cherry and cranberries along with forest floor and black winter truffles. On the palate this is lithe and rich, with a lovely a roundness and silky mouthfeel, yielding flavors of black cherry, baking spices, wild blackberry, red currant and Shitake mushroom. The minerality and structure to this gorgeous Pinot Noir suggests this will thrive in the cellar. This wine shows tremendous range and poise from this difficult vintage, and the superior winemaking by head winemaker Erik Kramer shines through. (Best 2016-2028) - November, 2016 (OB)
