ROCO Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2014

Head winemaker Rollin Soles has made some scintillating Chardonnay bottlings previously for Argyle and this is up there with the best that I have tasted from him in the past decade. Sourced from the Gran Moraine, Maresh Estate and Knudsen Vineyards this golden-hued Chardonnay starts with aromatics reminiscent of brioche, New York apple, poached pear, nutmeg and roasted hazelnuts. The palate shows wonderful weight and an almost unctuous mouthfeel, backed by rich flavors of red delicious apple, vanilla cream, green papaya and ripe cantaloupe. This is exceedingly delicious and has a long life ahead of it. (Best 2017-2027) - February, 2017 (OB)
