LA PITCHOUNE Pinot Noir, Van der Kamp Vineyard 2013

Van der Kamp vineyard is on of the oldest homesteads on the mountain and sits at an elevation of 1250 to 1500 feet. It is influenced by two fog banks, which move up on opposite sides of the vineyard; the Petaluma gap that winds up the Russian River and the other that comes in from the bay. The wine itself is flat-out delicious wine, delivering pretty aromas of ripe raspberries and cranberries laced with exotic spices, smoke, dried floral accents and underlying hints of pine sap. On the palate this offers a lovely soft, silky texture with wonderful finesse and balance as it makes a seamless transition into the spice-tinged finish. This is excellent today, but should certainly continue to develop further with some bottle age. (Best 2016-2024) - May, 2016 (JD)
