The Home Ranch Merlot is certainly a bold, intense showing from Sbragia in 2012. This blend of 95% Merlot, 4% Cab Franc and 1% Petite Verdot is dense and layered offering a generous dosage of ripe back currants, crème de cassis, mocha, spices, anise and sweet toasted oak that resonates through the wine. It possesses a full body that is backed by a rich, plush texture and shows impressive power as it heads into the finish. This will be approachale early on, but will need some short-term cellaring before it will be at its best. (Best 2016-2024) - December, 2014 (JD)
