This absolutely fantastic wine from Winemaker Jeff Ames, comes from vines planted back in 1888 at the historic Bedrock vineyard in Sonoma Valley which is now managed by the Peterson family. The wine itself is a true field blend with a Zinfandel base. It instantly begins to impress with its gorgeous aromas of ripe dark berries, currants, cherries, black pepper, savory herbs and wild flowers that all beautifully take shape. On the palate this is absolutely delicious, with a mouthful of ripe juicy fruits supported by a chewy texture, backed by a sappy core with blackberry, red currants and sour cherry flavors that flow into the long vibrant finish. This is a downright seductive red that is already showing incredibly well in its youth but could also easily be cellared for a decade or more.
