GARY FARREL Chardonnay, Sonoma Valley ‘Durell Vineyard’ 2019

Resting for 9 months in 35% new French oak barrels, this Chardonnay starts with a slight reductive note on the nose alongside aromas of ripe yellow apple, fresh red pear, wet volcanic soil, toasted nutmeg, and white flower blossom. It’s very fruit-forward on the palate with honey-coated pear dominating followed by secondary aspects of fresh peach skin and toasted cinnamon stick. Medium-plus acidity, a full-body that delivers a rich and oily sensation on the back palate. Only 346 cases were made.
