FOXEN Syrah, Los Olivos District, Williamson-Doré Vineyard 2018

The Williamson-Doré Syrah has a touch more Viognier than the Tinaquaic, coming in at 5%. It also sees 20 months in 33% new French oak barrels and 10% whole cluster fermentation. Beautiful aromas of black cherry, dried purple wild flowers, black peppered salami, graphite and vanilla bean pop in the glass. I adore the nose on this wine and could literally smell it all day long. Medium plus acidity hits your palate, alongside a medium to full body and silky tannins. It delivers additional flavors of grilled plum, spicy nutmeg and lavender on the finish. Ready to drink now or over the next decade. Only 380 cases produced.
