CLOS ERASMUS ‘Laurel’ 2011

2013 Top 100 - Rank #45

The 'Laurel' is the second wine from Clos Erasmus, it is composed of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. In 2011 there will be no ‘Clos Erasmus’ so the all fruit was put into the ‘Laurel’ bottling. The wine brings intense aromas of fresh blackberries, cherries, vanilla crème, mineral, toast, spice, licorice and hints of mint leaf. It is dense and concentrated, but kept extremely energetic by its racy core. The finish is long and fresh, with lovely underlying acidity carrying straight through. This already very generous, yet still primal and will need some additional time in bottle, but overall a fantastic job by Daphne Glorian-Solomon. (Best 2017-2028) - December, 2013 (JD)
