The 2015 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely sensational wine from Cliff Lede. This Cabernet was sourced from high elevation vineyards that yeild small clusters, and consist of volcanic soils containing decomposed ash (tufa), red volcanic rock and clay, which are all reflected beautifully in the wine. This immediatly grabs your attention with its dark inky color, which is then followed by seductive aromas of ripe black cherries and dark currents that come together with fresh violets, exotic spices, graphite, dusty rocks, hints of dark chocolate and forest herbs. This full-bodied Cabernet possesses wonderful opulence and remarkably concentrated fruit, which is supported by beautifully polished tannins. It continues to impress as gorgeous ripe dark fruits expand through the palate leading up to the long, supple finish. This is already utterly compelling, however it also has all the characteristics that indicate a long evolution ahead.
