The 2015 Family Reserve from Yao Ming is composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon (clones 337, 4, and 6) and 3% Petit Verdot which was sourced from vineyards in Oakville, and bench land vineyards in Rutherford. The wine spent 24 month in 100% new French oak and begins with seductive aromas of cream de cassis, ripe dark plums, pencil shavings, dusty stones, dried sage and exotic sweet spices all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied with an rich voluptuous texture, layered with ripe dark fruits, sweet spices and mocha flavors. It possesses wonderful concentration, as it ends with a rich, opulent finish. Its forward style will allow for early accessibility, however it should also hold up nicely in the cellar for at least a decade.
