The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve Auguste Favier is an absolutely stunning showing in this vintage, which instantly begins with gorgeous aromatics of dark plums and black raspberries woven together with exotic spices, lavender, herbs and a hint of smoky minerals all taking shape. On the palate this is medium+ to full-bodied with a wonderful velvety caressing texture along with outstanding depth and concentration. It displays a gorgeous sense of freshness, yet possesses a dense core of ripe dark fruits and spices which continue to expand through the long finish. This cuvée seems to be more compelling each vintage, and the 2016 looks to be even more impressive than last years fabulous wine.
