The 2016 'Calixtro' Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a single block in Tench Vineyard, and it is absolutely fabulous in this vintage. This instantly begins to seduce as it releases remarkably expressive aromatics of ripe dark currants and black cherries, along with incredibly complex nuances of graphite, spices, cinnamon, herbs, tobacco, dusty minerals, loam and violets which all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this possesses a fantastic combination of power, intensity and sophistication, driven by a gorgeous full-bodied voluptuous texture, which is well structured with big, yet beautifully polished tannins. It continues to impress with its excellent depth and concentration, as layers of delicious ripe dark fruits and exotic spices expand on to the supple finish, leaving a long lasting impression. Overall, this is a completely sumptuous bottle of Cabernet which is incredibly delicious, and nearly impossible to resist as it continues to develop and become more and more seductive with each second in the glass. This is another total stunner from Bevan Cellars in this vintage.
