The 2016 Cuvée Tradition Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a wonderful showing in this vintage from Domaine Pierre Usseglio. Composed 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mourvèdre sourced from vines between 35 and 75 years old. It begins with inviting aromas of raspberries and dark cherries which come together with spices, licorice, florals and garrigue. This is well-structured and possesses a gorgeous velvety texture. It continues to impress with its wonderful depth and concentration along with a lovely fresh character that persists through the finish. This is already offering plenty of appeal, but should also go on to age remarkably well over the course of the next decade plus.
