The 2016 Château Maucoil Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a gorgeous showing. Sourced from the Domaine’s youngest vines (40 years on average) planted on sandy and pebbly soils. This begins with with inviting aromas of raspberries and dark cherries woven together with licorice, herbs, fresh minerals and a touch of nicely integrated oak. On the palate this is elegant and silky with wonderful overall balance and finesse leading up to the gorgeous seamless finish that shows notable length. While this is drinking beautifully now, it should only continue to impress as it develops over time.
