The 2016 Sentinel Ridge Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is the inaugural release of this Howell Mountain wine, and it is yet another drop-dead stunning showing from Bevan Cellars. It instantly begins with deep, complex aromatics of blackberries, blueberries, exotics spices, violets, graphite, mocha and damp earth that all develop beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and remarkably concentrated with dense layers of ripe red and black fruits which expand seamlessly through the wine. It remains well-balanced and shows excellent freshness and purity through the long, supple finish. This is an absolute knockout from Russell Bevan, which is drinking exceedingly well upon release, yet should continue to evolve and provide pleasure for many years to come. It will certainly be a challenge keeping your hands off this stunner, as it is so delicious right now.
