The 2016 Château Kirwan is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Aromas of red berries, cassis, licorice, leather and fresh cut floral stems come together to fill the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and nicely structured with fine-grained tannins and excellent overall balance of fruit and acidity. It shows a lovely combination of elegance and finesse through the finish. This will need some time to soften, but should evolve gracefully and drink beautifully over the course of the next decade and beyond.
