This outstanding Cabernet is sourced from the Farella Vineyard in Coombsville, which is nestled in a southern corner of the eastern hills and characterized by fog-dominated mornings and long, sun-drenched afternoons. The 2015 from Jeff Ames is drop-dead gorgeous and a notch above last years brilliant wine. It instantly bursts open with remarkably complex aromas of ripe currants and blueberries woven together with violets, loam, coco powder, pencil lead, dusty minerals, sage and sweet spices all soaring from the glass. This full-bodied Cabernet possesses beautifully polished tannins and a wonderful opulent mouthfeel, underlined with a lovely streak of minerality. It goes on to display outstanding overall depth and concentration with excellent overall balance through the long, supple finish. This is a total beauty which already has so much to offer and should continue to deliver incredible drinking pleasure for well beyond a decade. 100% Clone 4 Cabernet, 70% aged in New Taransaud barrels for 22 months in Oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
