The 2016 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon is a total knockout, and at this early stage looks to be the most compelling of all the truly outstanding single vineyard wines from Alpha Omega in this vintage. It immediately starts off displaying an impressive dark inky color, which is followed by seductive aromas of ripe dark currants, black cherries and even subtle hints of blueberries which are accompanied by fresh violets, dark chocolate, exotic spices, graphite and hints of loam that all take shape and burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, layered and voluptuous, with outstanding overall depth and concentration. It goes on to impress as it displays a wonderful seamless texture all the way through the sensational finish. An absolute gem from Alpha Omega and winemaker Jean Hoefliger, which is already absolutely captivating, however should also offer a lenghty drinking window that will span the course of two decades.
