The 2016 Château la Nerthe 'Cuvée des Cadettes' Châteauneuf-du-Pape is composed of 52% Grenache, 38% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Displaying similar characteristics to the Tradition, but a more structured version. It starts off with inviting aromas of dark cherries, plums and black raspberries that come together with cherry wood, spices, warm licorice, lavender and hints of wild herbs all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a medium-full body, with notable tannins that provide plenty of traction and support. This goes on to display fantastic concentration through the long, grippy finish. The 2016 will certainly require at least few years of additional bottle age to settle down before it begins to hit its stride, nonetheless it is a beautifully made wine which has the potential to age extremely well for many years to come.
