Clare Carver and Brian Marcy sourced the fruit for this Syrah from one of the great vineyards in this region, owned by Richard Funk of Saviah Cellars. This needs a one hour decant to really open aromatically, but this awakens it releases stunning aromas of black olive tapenade, bacon fat, umami, and blackberry pie that come together and begin to soar from the glass. The palate shows a really good freshness and weight. There is a seamless quality to this elegant Walla Walla Rocks AVA wine. Asian spices, green olive, orange zest, cranberries, cherry and a dusting of cocoa powder complete this completely sensational wine. While utterly delicious now, this magnificent wine should continue to show beautifully over the next decade.
