The 2016 Cariad is absolutely magnificent, and yet another utterly captivating wine from Colgin Cellars in this vintage. Remarkably expressive, this stunning red opens to seductive aromatics of black and blue fruits, which are accented by fresh violets, graphite, earthy minerals, savory herbs and sweet spice nuances all bursting from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, deep and layered, backed by beautifully polished tannins and a core of pure dark fruits that expand seamlessly through the long plush finish. The 2016 is already showing incredibly well and should offer an immediate drinking window, yet also clearly has the potential to age for decades.
